Mohit Chauhan


Mohit Chauhan is an Indian singer who started his career, singing pop songs with the Silk Route. He was the lead singer of the Silk Route band.He did two albums namely "Boondein" and "Pehchan" with the band.The band is now dissolved. In year 2008 he did one more album named "Kalam" for which he composed and sung. He is known for his soft romantic voice.
After a successful stint with the band, his film career started as a low key affair with a few forgettable songs. His career got a flying start when he was roped in to sing a song in the film "Rang De Basanti" by A. R. Rahman. His song "Khoon Chala" was widely appreciated. After Khoon Chala his next hit song was "Tum Se Hi" composed by Pritam, from the film Jab We Met. His work on the song "Masakali" from the film Delhi-6 composed by A. R. Rahman was also appreciated[citation needed]. Now days the songs Tu Ne Jo Na Kaha from film New York, Ye dooriyan from film "Love Aaj Kal" and Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai from the upcoming film Kaminey are topping the charts.
Mohit Chauhan was born and brought up in Nahan in the Sirmaur district of Himachal. He completed his education from different districts in Himachal. He did his college from Bilaspur, Mandi and Nahan. Finally,completed his MSc in Geology from Dharamshala College in Himachal.. After completing his education in Himachal, he came down to Delhi where he formed the group the Silk Route in 1996, which gave him recognition in the music industry. "Boondein" was his first album where the song ‘Dooba Dooba’ was highly appreciated by people. In Bollywood, his career got a flying start when he was approached by none other than A. R. Rahman to sing a song in ‘Rang De Basanti’, where ‘Khoon Chala’ got wide appreciation. Mohit has given his voice in many Bollywood movies like Road, Mukt, Main Meri Patni Aur Woh, Rang De Basanti, Jab We Met, EMI, Welcome to Sajjanpur, Kismat Konnection, Fashion, Delhi-6,New- York,Love Aaj Kal and Kaminey
